Reviews are important to small tourism businesses like Truffle Lodge, because it determines, among other things, our page ranking on google.
Reviews are one of the few ways that we can compete with the big boys, although with only 8 tents compared to hundreds of rooms, we really are not in the ballpark, just by virtue of the number of reviews!
It is a silly game, but one that we are forced to play.
But while we NEED the reviews, we love to get the ‘old style’ thank-you emails, and notes which are personal, from you to us.
We and our staff really do take every stay personally, and do our darndest to give our guests the best hospitality that we can. And we agonise if we have any doubt that our guests are having a wonderful time.
Recently we had a large group stay for a week. Groups have different dynamics to couples, and our staff have to navigate across different preferences and expectations. Groups are often much harder work for our staff, and much harder to ‘read’ how things are going.
We think that we must have done ok, because this wonderful thank you hamper and letter arrived from London yesterday!!!
