Truffle Lodge is deliberately laid back, but that does not mean that we are slack!
Quite the opposite!
For everything to roll along seamlessly, to appear to flow along effortlessly, our staff have to be super organised behind the scenes, the proverbial ducks floating serenely on top of the water with legs paddling furiously under the surface.
So, sorry, yes, we do have to have some daily schedules.
- Knowing guests’ estimated arrival time enables us to tailor the check-in process to ensure a seamless and relaxed arrival for all.
- Check-in is from 3.00pm, and guests are asked to please arrive 3.00pm– 6.00pm.
- If you anticipate being significantly later than 6.00pm, please do let us know in advance.
- Early check-in and late check-out cannot usually be accommodated
- If we are able to accommodate early check-in or late checkout, $50/hr charges applied
- If your plane arrives in early and you have time to wander before your check-in at 3pm , please see our suggestions for en route Hobart Airport to Truffle Lodge.
- Checkout by 10.00am please.
Reception
Reception is usually closed 10.00am – 3.00/4.00pm while guests are out sightseeing, and again after dinner service is completed. During this period, as at all times, guests have access to the two communal areas of The Lodge.
Property Access
Truffle Lodge is within a working farm precinct. Guests do not have access to the property outside of the dates of their stay, and only within stated arrival and departure times.
Between reservation blocks, Truffle Lodge is locked down and Covid sanitised. Staff may not be onsite until the next Checkin date/time, and gates may be locked.
Truffle Lodge is within a working sheep property. Please close the 2nd gate after you after you drive through, and if the lower gate is closed or if there is sheep on the paddocks, please close the lower gate after you. The top (road)gate is rarely closed.
Between reservation blocks, the gates may be locked. We may have a combination lock to allow guests access.
Breakfast
- Breakfast is served 8.00am and breakfast closes 9.30am.
- Guests are asked to arrive with sufficient time to be completed breakfast before 9.30am.
- At 9.30am all food is roomed and service ceases. The dining room is then closed for Covid cleaning.
Afternoon drinks
- Bar service is available at The Lodge from 4.00pm
- We are fully licensed, and our beverages are reasonable priced. No BYO please.
Dinner
- Served at 7.00pm, with pre-dinner drinks from 6.30pm.
- Guests may choose to sit communally or at separate tables, but the dinner is served simultaneously for all tables, so, in consideration of all, guests are asked to be punctual. There are no late arrival dining options.
Use of the Lodge
- The Dining Room, the Lounge Room and the open Canopy tent are open for guest use at all times.
- The Reception and Bar area is open Breakfast – 10.00am and 4.00pm- end of dinner. The Bar opens at 4.00pm. Reception is open from 3.00pm when there are checkins.
- As most guests are out exploring and adventuring during the day, we do not provide lunches. Please phone or text our Covid Remote Concierge Service for lunch venue suggestions. The Gretna Green Hotel is a short walk up the hill for a typical Tasmanian country pub lunch.
- Between 10.00am and 3.00/4.00pm, staff are of-site collecting fresh provisions, delivering laundry etc. Cleaning staff may also be in attendance during this time.
Bedtime
- To ensure the peaceful enjoyment of all guests, The Lodge is closed after dinner.
- So that everyone can enjoy the sounds of the night, guests are asked to be mindful of the comfort of others, and observe the ‘Quiet Please’ etiquette from 10.00pm.
- Please also be conscious of the fact that these are tents which are not soundproof, especially in the silence of a country night.
