Cool off at ‘The Beach’

Great place to cool off!

We have several deep plungeholes in the river at Truffle Lodge. Guests love to sit on the river deck, dangling their feet in the river, or to totally immerse themselves on the rocky outcrop.

But last year, after the floods, we discovered a sandy little beach, which had not previously been evident because it was overgrown with willows. The floods had washed away a lot of the riverside debris, revealing the sandy bottom, and gentle slope into the water.

So we decided to clear the willow infestation in this area and use large fallen trees to stablise the banks, which resulted in a lovely little shallow paddling area.

At the same time, we did a bit of leveling to create a gently sloped path down to the river ….. the result was an instant hit with guests.
